Visit the beautiful 15th century timber-framed Old Baptist Chapel to meet Simon Jones, Colonel of Lord Thomas Grey’s Sealed Knot Regiment of foot who will be talking about soldiering during the English Civil War (1642 – 1651).
Hear about the weapons and other equipment used in this bloody conflict which tore families apart, and learn how musketeers and pikemen worked together to form a fearsome fighting unit. You will even have a chance to handle replica weapons of the period including a musket and a 16 foot steel tipped pike (caution required!)
Lord Thomas Grey's is a parliamentarian regiment. During the Civil War parliament stood up for the rights of the common man against a King who would hold absolute power over them all.
